RECYCLED CITY,

WALL TWO
This section of recycled city focuses on the area of Philadelphia just West of Broad Street that is referred to as Center City.  The artists, Harry Anderson and Smokie Kittner, have used found objects to recreate the Liberty Towers, Love Park and an old theater, among others things.  The found objects used in the artwork range from toys to food containers, from plant trays to crushed soda cans.

A broken tape measure, vent cover, spindle, circuit boards and garden trays are some of the found objects used in the Liberty Towers.

Philadelphia's LOVE PARK nicknamed after Robert Indiana's "LOVE" sculpture is bordered by a road way made of newspaper, 220 film backing, toy cars, car cards and poptops for parking meters.  The Park also contains a reference to Claus Oldenburg’s CLOTHESPIN.  The SESAME STREET character OSCAR THE GROUCH pops out of his trash can on the plaza of tin can lids.

Cereal boxes, letter blocks, plastic keys, a sailors hat made from newspaper, and a chrome grid form the sky scrapers above a theater.  Game pieces, boxes form a concession stand and bicycle plates are some of the elements used for the theater.  The artists used many items made in Phialdelphia and the state of Pennsylvania.

Tile samples and Game pieces are used for this building.

Above the dominos used for the doors is the logo of the Pennsylvania Railroad.

Other objects used for this section of RECYCLED CITY include cd.s, crushed plastic soda bottles, light switches, sheet music, a toy piano and license plates.
